Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

What kind of media institution might distribute my media product?

IPC media is the sort of distributer that I could see distributing my magazine. They distribute over sixty ‘iconic media brands’ including NME, Nuts, Marie Claire and many more. The magazine produced is read by two thirds of UK women and 42% of UK men. This shows they have a wide range of magazines and they are a well known distributor world wide. I think this will suit my magazine because IPC media distribute NME magazine and my magazine is targeted at a similar audience. They have the experience and skill to take magazines nationally as they have before with numerous magazines and although my magazine is aimed at a specific audience I am looking to make it mainstream like NME.

Why?

They have already distributed NME magazine which is a similar magazine and has a similar target audience to my magazine and they were successful at that, making NME one of the most well known magazines on the market. I think they would do a good job of distributing my magazine and with the success of NME i think they would want to distribute my magazine due to the similarities.
